Padas or Quarters

The first pada falls on the Sagittarius Navamsa which is ruled by Jupiter. The focus is on financial interests and a rapid swing from one state of finances to another. Natives need to take an easier approach towards money. Natives are enthusiastic towards acquiring higher education and knowledge. Jyeshta is naturally secretive, but can leak out secrets through the frankness that is a characteristic of Sagittarius. Natives take risks and are more generous than other Jyeshta padas. Chaivalry is displayed in terms of protecting their kin. They also have a sense of humor. Mars, Sun, Ketu and Jupiter are strong with the last planet providing the best results. Planets are not good for the wellness of the native’s siblings.

The second pada falls on the Capricorn Navamsa which is ruled by Saturn. The quarter is responsible and is known for doing the right things. The natives are very protective and challenge others, producing authority type figures. Selfish, materialistic, vengeful and stingy, the native can be ruthless in approaching others. Mentally and physically mature from an early age, the individual has an authoritative voice. Overbearing and serious, the pada takes time to realize its goals which are achievable only after a lot of hard work. Natives are stern, slow and cautious here. Natives should be cautious of too much melancholy, skepticism and negative attitude. Saturn and Mars provide authority to the individuals. Planets might affect the health and wellness of younger siblings.

The third pada falls on the Aquarius Navamsa which is ruled by Saturn. Natives are humanitarian and have social concerns. They have a tendency to guard the underdog, serving causes and protecting others. They can also make sacrifices to protect others. The pada has a penchant for mysticism and occult science with their way with maintaining family values. They also love describing their personal philosophy to others. Individuals can get caught up in weird sexual encounters. Mercury, Venus, Rahu and Saturn are strong. Planets can affect the health of the mother.

The fourth pada falls on the Pisces Navamsa which is ruled by Jupiter. Natives are emotional and get carried away, indulging too much in fantasy, intoxication and sexual intrigue. The individual might be able to stream their emotions into creative expression, having their own definition of responsibility, protectiveness etc. Natives tend to maximize their woes and at the same time display a strong and sacrificing spiritual nature towards humanity. The person is fond of kids and defends others’ rights and takes an interest in exploring the occult. However, one of the major drawbacks is that Jyestha cannot function appropriately here as the penance aspect is lacking. However, the ability of material prosperity is strong here with benefices like Venus and Jupiter. Mars is poor, and so is Saturn which provides material adversity, but is efficient in lending spiritual discipline. In its negative avatar, the pada is self-destructive.

Jyeshta – The Umbrella

Jyeshta (16.40-30.00 Scorpio) is ruled by the Ruler of Gods, Lord Indra. The name literally translates into the elder one or the senior one and it holds true for that which is characterized by supreme glory.

Indra is the protector of heroes and it is he who is the divine slayer and warrior. Vedic astrologers are of the opinion that at some point of time, there were 18 nakshatras used and Jyeshta happened to be the final constellation.

Behavioral Characteristics

Jyeshta is governed by a sense of becoming or arrival. In fact, it completes the second series of nine nakshatras starting with Magha. The latter series of nakshatras are more concerned with activities on an earthly plane. For Jyeshta, it is important to maintain an image. The natives do all they can to impress others and maintain the respect of other people. In the desire to abide by the established norms, Jyeshta is a good performer where charity, philanthropy, respect and kindness are concerned. Thus, it is said that Jyeshta in ancient times commanded the respect of society.

Presently, when the world is characterized with excesses of materialism, Jyeshta at times drives its energy towards useless material pursuits that tend towards self destruction. Hence, the Jyeshta characters are manifested as corrupt politicians, stereotyped mob leaders, bureaucratic managers and the like. Persons with the Jyeshta asterism mature quickly both physically as well as mentally. Their appearances are usually well proportioned in accordance with the need for harmony. However, they cannot hold on to their youth for a long time. The best feature of their physique is their probing and penetrating eyes.

Natives of Jyeshta tend to see their woes as larger than life. Hence, they are often found complaining, moaning and groaning. A strong influence of the energy of Jyeshta is the African continent, and hence it is no wonder that the musical genre of The Blues have found their roots here. Jyeshta natives are also vindictive and vengeful. Jyeshta is also protective of the weak, and can go to any lengths to protect the underprivileged, and are guided by the elite forces.

Sacred Enegy Vortex: Pasupathi Koil Sri Varadharaja Perumal Temple

Varadharaja Perumal Koil is located in the village of Pasupathi near Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu, India. It is commonly referred to as the Jyeshta Temple because the energy of this shrine resonates with that of Jyestha star. An incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Sri Varadharaja Perumal resides at this sacred vortex. Varad means boon and Raja means king. Thus, Sri Varadaraja Perumal is the royal one who offers blessings to the world from this temple.

Just as Lord Vishnu manifests among the stars in the heavens, he also manifests among those who visit Pasupathi Koil. The twenty-seven nakshatra goddesses visit this temple each day and perform a marriage festival to Sri Varadaraja Perumal. Also at this sacred energy vortex, Sri Periya Nambi Swamigal meditated on Lord Vishnu with full devotion and contemplation. On Jyestha star day, Lord Vishnu appeared before him in the form of Sri Varadaraja Perumal and offered Divine Grace. The samadhi (still meditation) of Sri Periya Nambigal is located adjacent to the main shrine at Pasupathi Koil. It is auspicious to light a lamp containing three oils and receive darshan at the samadhi of Sri Periya Nambigal on Jyestha star day.

Those people born under Jyestha star should visit Pasupathi Koil with their family. It is favorable to visit the temple when Jyestha star falls on a Tuesday, combining the power of Mars and Jyestha. Siddhas and other divine beings give darshan on this day. These blessings have the ability to remove past life karmas, increase the effects of virtuous action and protect a person’s family. Those born under other stars will also benefit from a visit to this temple. They may offer archana and abhishekam to Sri Varadharaja Perumal and receive the darshan of siddhas who manifest in the light.

Jyestha natives, your incense is made with the herb Rattan as prescribed by the Vedas.

Burning one of these pillars is like performing a mini fire ritual for that particular star formation. For your specific Birthstar, you will be able to connect inwardly to your planet of energetic origin and gain support with the positive aspects that are you.

Burning the other Nakshatra pillars on that specific Nakshatra day will tune you in with the favorable activities with that star’s energy for the day. It is recommended to at least burn your own personal Nakshatra pillar daily to stay connected to your essence. It is advantageous to burn the days Nakshatra pillar as well.
